Today (August 29th) Kiss will perform in Las Vegas. This show is followed by Lake Tahoe tomorrow (August 30th) and Kelseyville day after tomorrow (August 31st). These will be the last Kiss shows for quite some time.

”Detroit Rock City” is one of the songs featured on the upcoming video game ”Rock Revolution”. This is similar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. This game will be released October 14 and it will be available for PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. Singing Contest With Tommy Thayer

In conjuction with the second anniversary party for the Kiss Coffeehouse a singing contest has been declared. The idea is to phone in and to sing the song "Forever" over a newly recorded instrumental version that Tommy Thayer has recorded. Tommy will choose the winner and the winner will sing the song together with Tommy at the party September 6th. I'm not really sure what to think of this but at least Kiss aren't running of ideas!

Cover Of Metal Xmas Unveiled But No Ace?

The cover of the fortcoming Metal Xmas CD will look like this. However, it seems to be some problem with the previous reports that Ace Frehley would sing and play guitar on one of the tracks. He is not listed in the new track listing. I will get back when I have more information. Bruce Kulick is still on two of the tracks.

Gene Simmons is among the constenants on the Fox TV game show "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader". The game show is hosted by Jeff Foxworthy and among the other celebrity constenants you can find stars like Jennie Garth and Sugar Ray Leonard. The season starts September 5th.

Swedish TV Host Made-Up As Paul Stanley

Swedish national TV (SVT) is right now showing a trailer for the cheesy family entertainment show Doobidoo. In the trailer, host Lasse Kronér wears a make-up similar to Paul Stanley’s. Not identical but still very similar. I am trying to find a clip to post but I haven’t found anyone still. In the meantime, look at this shot.

Kiss I-Dogs Coming

Kissonline has posted pictures of some upcoming merchandise. Hasbro will manufacture 4 Kiss I-Dogs (one for each original member). If you don't what an I-Dog is (I had no idea) it's basically a speaker that you connect to your Ipod and it can "dance" to the music. To be honest, I don't really think that this really is what the Kiss audience is looking for. These I-Dogs will be available in November.

Unique Kiss 16 mm Film On Ebay

The cool old stuff keep coming up at Ebay. Newly listed is a unique 16 mm film shot during the Love Gun tour. This footage was later used on the Alive II promo video. Wouldn't that be a cool thing to own?!

Ace And Bruce To Play On Christmas Album

Both Ace Frehley and Bruce Kulick will be featured on a star studded Christmas album called "Metal Christmas". This album will be released in late fall by Eagle Records. Ace is singing and playing the guitar on a track called ‘Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer’. Bruce play the guitar on a track called ‘Rocking Round The Xmas Tree’.
Besides Ace and Bruce, names like Ronnie James Dio, Alice Cooper, Geoff Tate and Lemmy will appear on the album so it definately should be something special.

OSCAR DRONJAK OF HAMMERFALL TALKS ABOUT KISS

Swedish metal band Hammerfall recently released a new album only consisting of cover songs. The album is called ”Masterpieces" and among the songs you can find a great version of "Detroit Rock City". Lead guitarist and founding member Oscar Dronjak is known to be a Kiss fan so I had a chat with him regarding Kiss that went something like this:

SO OSCAR, HOW BIG A KISS FAN ARE YOU?
I'm a huge fan! And I am the only real Kiss fan in the band. When I was growing up Kiss meant a lot to me. I had (and still have) Originals 1. And I dreamt of getting hold of Originals 2 but that never happened. I have got all the extras to Originals 1 such as the postcards. It felt so cool to have that when I was a kid.

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN KISS PERFORM LIVE?
It's a total of three times. The first time was September 16th 1988 at Frölundaborg in Göteborg, Sweden. That was actually my first real concert ever. It was absolutely amazing and I was totally blown away! Me and my friend couldn't even speak afterwards, we were so blown away. We went to a store and bought a Fanta and after that we slowly could start speaking again!

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE KISS MEMBER?
I have to say Ace. He is the reason I started playing the guitar. It's not like I wanted to be him but he woke my interest for playing the guitar. It's also hard not to have Gene is a favorite, he is so impressive on stage. I have actually done two shows wearing Gene make-up. I also like Vinnie Vincent a lot, he is so underestimated. But overall Ace is my favorite. Without him, I would never have started to play the guitar. Wolf Hoffman of Accept is the ultimate guitar player in my opinion but Ace is so unique and special.

WHICH KISS ALBUM IS YOUR FAVORITE?
That's "Revenge". I have given this a lot of thought and I have come to the conclusion that no Kiss album is better than ”Revenge”. It's so complete all the way from the first song until the last one. The only album that could compete with "Revenge" is "Lick It Up".

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU RECORD YOUR VERSION OF "DETROIT ROCK CITY"?
We did this in JM Studios in Göteborg while we were doing the pre-production for our "Crimson Thunder" album. This was back in April 2002.

THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS SONG IS RELEASED, CORRECT?
That is correct. The first time it was released in 2002 as a bonus track on the American version of "Crimson Thunder". We did ”Detroit Rock City” on the US version, Yngwie Malmsteen's "Rising Force" on the European version and Loudness' "Crazy Nights" on the Japanese version. We recorded all those songs at the same time during the pre-production. The year after our label Nuclear Blast released a Kiss tribute called "Creatures Of The Night" where the song also is featured. But it was as bonus track for "Crimson Thunder" that we recorded the song.

WHY DID YOU CHOSE ”DETROIT ROCK CITY”?
It was actually our drummer Anders Johansson and former bass player Magnus Rosén who suggested this. ”Detroit Rock City” is obviously one of the the classic Kiss songs and it's a bit more metallic than most other Kiss songs. That is something that we thought should suit Hammerfall and I think it did.

SO WHAT IS HAMMERFALL UP TO NOW?
Today (August 11th) we are entering the studio to record our new album. This will be released in February 2009 and the release will be followed by a world tour.

Paul Stanley And Erin Are Expecting Their Second Child

Paul Stanley and his wife Erin are expecting their second child this winter. Paul says the following on www.paulstanley.com:

"Erin and I are thrilled and can't wait to meet our newest addition. We've been extremely blessed and we're excited to see what the future holds. I often joke that I've traded the Viper Room for the diaper room, and it looks like my tour's been extended!"

Paul and Erin married in 2006. Their son Colin turns 2 in September. Paul also has a 14 year old son called Evan from his previous marriage.

Ace Featured On New CD

During Ace Frehley’s solo tour in December last year, North Carolina based band Jam Pain Society were the opening act at some of the shows. Now Jam Pain Society will release their second album ”Black Light Messiah” and none else than Ace is playing lead guitar on the song ”The Ride”! SD Governor Declared Monday As Kiss Day

South Dakota governor Mike Rounds declared Monday (August 4th) as Kiss day and presented the Kiss members with an award. The governor also came to the show later in the evening and joined the band on stage. The show at Glencoe Amphitheater attracted 40 000 fans.

Ace At Yesterday's Judas Priest Concert

Yesterday (August 4th) Judas Priest did a show at New York's Hard Rock Café. This was a special show to celebrate radio legend Eddie Trunk's 25 years in the radio business. Ace Frehley was among the celebrity guests, so were musicians like Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate and Gilby Clarke.

Kiss Rock And Roll Day In South Dakota

As you all know, tomorrow (August 4th) is the big day for the Kiss show in Sturgis, SD. But they will not just play a concert. Before to the show, Kiss will accept a proclamation from Sturgis Governor Mike Rounds regarding making August 4th to Kiss Rock And Roll Day in South Dakota. This will be present by Sturgis Mayor Maury LaRue.
This is being reported by the South Dakota Office Of Tourism.
